About The Camp

The Young Women Leaders in AI program will develop young women as leaders in AI, not only to address the gender gap in industry teams, but also foster spokespersons to ensure social diversity has a voice as regulation and disruption unfolds in coming years.

Young women will emerge from the program as ambassadors to take on leadership roles as society and the economy transforms through AI adoption.

What You'll Learn

At the camp, you won’t just be learning how to build AI systems. You’ll gain all the skills needed to solve real problems, usher innovation into your own organisation, and excel as a female leader.

About the camp

Who is the camp for?

The camp is designed for young go-getters aged 16 to 26.

What are the expected outcomes?

The camp will provide attendees with the tools to understand the opportunities for AI, implement the technology in organisations, and get started with building a practical system. There will also be opportunities to network with other applicants, speakers and our sponsoring companies.

How much does the camp cost?

The event is completely free of charge! Thanks to the support from our sponsors, we’ve made the event free of charge for attendees in order to keep the camp accessible to everyone.

Do I have to know how to code?

While a portion of the workshops will focus on hands-on building of AI systems, we’re looking for attendees with a mix of leadership, entrepreneurship and technical skills.


Attending the Camp

Who is eligible to attend?

We will be accepting an even mix of year 11 & 12 high school students, university students studying technology or business degrees, and young entrepreneurs and leaders.

How many applicants will be accepted?

The 2018 camp will be accept up to 24 applicants, with the 2019 and 2020 camps accepting up to 150 applicants.

Can I apply if I live outside of Queensland

Yes, the program is open to applicants Australia-wide.

Where do I stay if I am travelling to the camp?

We recommend Airbnb for out of town participants. We will provide more information on accomodation and travel options to those applicants accepted.

What are the important dates?

Applications for the 2019 camp close on March 17th, with those accepted to be notified by March 22nd. The camp will take place for 6 days from Friday April 12th to Wednesday April 17th 2019.
